This is the first record on Downfall Theory, a new St Petersburg imprint which, if this is any kind of blueprint or manifesto, intend to supply us with some ridiculously dark and destructive techno music. "Control Freak" is a full-on entanglement of sandy synths, cell-block stabs, a murderous midpoint bassline and hats slammed through a sieve. This track will twist your face played on a real system, even if you don’t realize it happened until you see the party pics posted online. "Event Horizon" is a solid brick of overpowering percussion pressed into an intoxicating terrine of implied melody so irresistible you will eat it raw. Think Jamal Moss' percussive tape experiments mixed with Skudge's relentless darkness and your nearly there. These are ensanguined techno tracks built for barbaric DJs simply looking to smash your face.
